Yes, I'm a child at heart! I LOVE The little Mermaid...This was my absolute favorite movie growing up and still is. It is such a sweet movie, and since this was my favorite movie I just HAD to write a review on it.
This movie is about a young head-strong mermaid named Ariel who is the one of the daughters of King Triton, who is the ruler of the all the oceans and seas. She has different dreams then what her father wants for his daughter she is bored with life under the sea and dreams and fantasises about life on land. During a MAJOR hurricane storm a human Prince by the name of Eric gets shipwrecked and nearly drowns but is rescued by Ariel who wakes him through her beautiful singing voice (which is another reason I LOVE Ariel because I'm a singer as well). Anyways Ariel falls in love with Prince Eric...however Ursula the Sea Witch (who has been secretly watching her) decides she can use this to her advantage.
Meanwhile Sebastian (a crab who is advisor to King Triton) tries keep Ariel's feelings for Prince Eric on the down low and tries to convince Ariel why life is better "Under the Sea". However the secret that Ariel rescued and fell in love with a HUMAN is short lived and King Triton and Ariel get into a HUGE argument that ends up with King Triton loosing his cool and destroying all of Ariel's human "treasures" that she has collected.
Ariel is then tricked by Ursula's Eel henchmen and they convince her to come and see Ursula. Ariel, upset and not thinking clearly goes ahead with them and meets Ursula. Ursula tells her that she will make her a potion that will turn her into a human for 3 days and if she can get Prince Eric to fall in love and kiss her within those 3 day she will remain a human permanently if not she turns back into a mermaid and she "belongs" to Ursula. Sebastian and Flounder (Ariel's friend who is a Flounder fish) who had followed her to Ursula cave try and convince her not to follow through with the deal but she does anyway...and in exchange for her legs she must sacrifice her beautiful voice.
When she found by Prince Eric, he thinks she is the girl that had rescued him (which we know that she is) but when she is shown she can't speak he quickly decides she isn't the girl that rescued him and that he fell in love with...but he decided to help her and thus begins Ariel's 3 days as a human. Over the next couple of days there is shown a spark starting to form between Ariel and Eric. However unbeknownst to Ariel, Ursula is closely monitoring them.
Will Ariel be able to get Eric to fall in love with her and kiss her within those 3 days and be able to remain a human...especially when Ursula disguises herself and uses Ariel's voice to make Eric think that the disguised Ursula is the person who saved him, or will Ariel turn back into a mermaid and "belong" to Ursula?
I'm sure you've probably seen this movie so you probably know what happens...but like I said I have loved this movie ever since I was a little girl!! Ariel is my favorite Disney Princess. This is a great movie to watch as a family because it will be fun for both kids and adults who are children at heart, especially if you like Classic Disney.
