The Notebook

This movie starts off with a older gentle man who lives in a nursing home reading a story to a older lady about 2 young loves named Noah and Allie. The story takes place in Seabrook, South Carolina in the 1940's. Noah and Allie meet at the local carnival and Noah immeditley takes a liking to Allie. However Allie rejects his advances. But after being set up on a double date by their best friends who are dating Allie begins to recipcate Noah's feelings. They are eventually inseperable and spend every waking moment together.

Allie's parents are very wealthy and Noah is lucky to make .10 an hour, and Allie's parents do not approve of their relationship, and after a fight with her parents in which Noah overhears Allie's mom calling him Trash and that he is not good enough for her he decides to make a rash decision and break up with her, which he immeditley regrets. But before they get a chance to make up Allie's parents decide to move back home to keep them apart. (They were only in Seabrook for the Summer). Noah writes Allie a letter everyday for year in which he apologizes to Allie for breaking up with her, but they all go unresponded but we learn that it was due to her mother hiding her letters from her. In his last leter he decides to bid her farewell and move on with his life and he and his best friend decide to move to Alanta.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor Noah and Finn (his best friend) enlist in the army and fight in World War II where eventually Finn is killed. Meanwhile Allie enrolls in collge and volunteers as a nurses aid where she helps men who are revovering from the war. There she meets the Lon Hammond who is handsome, charming, and comes from a wealthy family and begin dating and eventually engaged much to her family joy.

Noah returns to Seabrook after the war where he learns that his father sold his house so Noah could purchase the Windsor Plantation (an old abandonded house that Noah dreamed of restoring and living in with Allie).

While in town to present his restoration plans for the house he spots Allie among the crowd but looses her in the crowd. He spots her through a resturant window where he sees her kissing Lon and is heartbroken again. But he feels that somehow if he restores the house Allie will come back to him. After he finishes the house the newpaper interviews him and puts his picture in the paper, and he decides to put it up for sale. However when it came down to it he can't find it in his heart to part with it.

While trying on her wedding dress for family she comes across Noah's picture in the paper and decides to visit him. Upon returning to the plantation she is nervous and drives into Noah fence and he invites her in where they have dinner and talk and she makes it known that she is engaged. He invites her back tomorrow morning for a surprise. He takes her for a boat ride on the lake.

It then proceeds to rain where she says that it wasn't over for her and that waited for him and that now it is too late. Noah tells her that he wrote her everyday for year and that it still isn't over. He pulls her into a kiss and they go back to the house where they end up making love.

After a few days of passion Allie'r mother shows up at the plantation where she see's Allie pretty much naked and tells her that Lon is in town. She tells her to get dressed because she wants to show her something. Her and Allie drive to a lumberyard where he mother tells her that she also had a summer romance and that she still watches her ex-lover somtimes. They drive back to Noah's house, and he is sitting on the porch, Allie's mom hands her the letters that Noah had written, saying that she hopes Allie makes the right choice. She drives away and Allie goes to sit on the porch with Noah. She explains how Lon is in town and how the past few days had been wonderful, but very irresponsible. Noah is furious, accusing her of only loving Lon for his money, and says that if she leaves, he will hate her forever. She storms toward her car, and Noah yells after her that she's bored with her life, and if she wasn't she wouldn't have come. She turns around and yells back that they wouldn't last because it had only been 3 days and they were already arguing. He begs her to stay with him, saying that he knows they fight and is willing to work it out every day if that's what it takes. He says that he's not afraid to hurt her feelings because that's what they do; they fight and make up. He tells her that if she really wants to be with Lon, then she should go, because he lost her once and could do it again. Confused, Allie drives off.

Crying and distraught Allie pulls over and reads one of the letters...which is his goodbye letter. Back at the hotel where Lon is staying she comes clean as too what happened. He is angry but says that he can either kill Noah, beat him up, or leave her, but says that neither of those are good because neither of them give her her and that inspite of this he still loves her and wants to work it out. But he doesn't want to have to convince her that he is the one she should be with. She says that he knows who she should be with.

Then it switches over to Noah waking up to a car approaching and he hears a car door shut...He goes out to his front porch where he sees Allie with her luggage, she drops them a runs into his arms.

It then switches back to the elderly man and woman, and the woman realizes that she is Allie and that the man is Noah. She asks how long she has until she looses her memory again. They dance and while dancing she relapes and she starts freaking out as she believes the man is an intruder and the older Allie has to recieve a shot to calm her down. Noah is distraught and cries.

Back in his room he is looking through the book he was reading to Allie where it says
"Read this to me and I will come back to you everytime"

The next morning Noah is rushed to emergency when a nurse finds him in critical condition, but survives. He sneaks into Allie's room where she asks himif their love is stong enough to take them both away together. Noah says that their love is stong enough to do anything.

The next morning a nurse comes into check on Allie and finds both Allie and Noah holding hands having peacefully died in their sleep.

This movie is so sweet!! I loved it Ryan Gossling, and Rachel McAdams who played Noah and Allie had such great chemistry together.

I still haven't read these books. But I've loved the movies. I caught the "Twilight Bug"

It starts out with Bella dreaming of herself as an old woman and Edward still young as he stopped aging at the age of 17. Bella wakes up scared about growing older, espcially since it's her 18th birthday and she's now offically "older" than her boyfriend. Despite her lack of enthusiasm about her birthdays, Edward's adoptive family still throws Bella a birthday party. While unwrapping a gift, Bella gets a paper cut, causing Edward's brother, Jasper, to become overwhelmed by her blood's scent and attempt to kill her. Realizing the danger that he and his family pose to Bella, Edward ends their relationship and Edward and his family leaves.

Edward's harsh and abrupt departure from Forks leaves Bella heartbroken and depressed for months. Only, when Bella's father says he doesn't know how to help her and decides to send her to live with her mother does Bella agrees to spend time with her friends. After hanging out with her friend Jessica, Bella sees a group of men on motorcycles. This reminds her of when Edward previously rescued her from an assault, and she sees his image warning her to stay away. Bella discovers that thrill-seeking activities evoke Edward's voice and image. She is also comforted by Jacob Black. When Jacob suddenly begins avoiding her, Bella discovers Jacob has become a werewolf, an age-old enemy of vampires. Jacob's pack members are on constant patrol for Victoria, a vampire searching to kill Bella due to the death of her mate, leaving Jacob little time to spend with her.

Due to a series of miscommunications, Edward believes Bella has killed herself. Distraught over her supposed suicide, Edward flees to Italy to provoke the Volturi, a powerful vampire coven capable of killing him, by exposing himself in the sunlight. Alice, Edward's sister, and Bella rush to Italy to save Edward, and arrive just in time to stop him. However, the Volturi determine that Bella, a human who knows that vampires exist, must either be killed or transformed into a vampire herself. Alice stops them from killing her by saying that Bella will be turned into a vampire even if she needs to do it herself. Returning to Forks, Edward tells Bella that he always loved her and only left to protect her. She forgives him, and the Cullens vote in favor of Bella being transformed into a vampire, to Edward's dismay. However, Jacob reminds Edward of the treaty the Cullens made with the Quileute tribe: they will not attack each other, as long as the Cullens do not bite any humans. The movie concludes with Edward telling Bella that he will change her into a vampire if she marries him first.

I saw this movie today with my friend Elyse. Yes, we are Miley Cyrus fans. I know we’re cheesy but oh well. This is a movie based off of a Nicholas Sparks book. (He wrote “The Notebook”, and “A Walk to remember”)

Anyways this is a “coming-of age” movie about a summer that changed a young girls life forever.

Miley Cyrus portrays the rebellious/free spirited teenager Veronica “Ronnie” Miller. Who reluctantly is forced to spend the summer with her estranged father, Steve as well as her younger brother who is more than excited to spend time with their father.. Her father is a former Julliard Professor who taught Ronnie at a young age to play the piano. Ronnie became a childhood prodigy and was even offered a scholarship to Julliard as well. But since her parents divorce she becomes bitter and doesn’t want to play the piano anymore and hadn’t since.

During the course of the summer Ronnie meets a handsome local boy named Will Blaklee. And after a few not so harmonious meetings Will and Ronnie start to become fond of each other. Mostly due to the fact that Will works at a local aquarium and Ronnie took it upon her self to protect some Loggerhead sea turtles eggs from raccoons. Ronnie and Will have a up and down relationship as at first Will’s parents (who are quite wealthy) don’t approve of their relationship and Will’s ex-girlfriend becomes jealous of Ronnie and Will’s relationship.

Eventually Ronnie and her father start to make amends, and rebuild their relationship and Ronnie starts to play the piano again with some encouragement from Will and her father. But when her father falls ill the rest of her summer and her life changes forever.

This movie hasn’t been getting the best reviews from critics but I thought it was a cute movie and if you are a Miley Cyrus fan I would recommend seeing it. Also if you are a fan of Nicholas Sparks books.

Julie & Julia

I was at my sisters house the other day and she has premium cable channels so I decided to order "Julie & Julia" on Demand. I really thought this was a really cute movie..However I had to rewind it a couple of times due to some distractions while watching it!! But I thought this movie was really cute.

This movie integrates two true life stories of Critically acclaimed t.v chef Julia Child and aspiring writer Julie Powell.

Julie Powell is an aspiring writer that has submitted a story to a publisher but it wasn't bought, she is also stuck in a depressing job at a call center where families of the victims of the September 11 attacks call to share their feeling or people call to complain about the controversial plans to rebuild the World Trade Center call and complain. She however finds comfort in cooking and decides to start a blog about cooking her way through Julia Child's cook book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in a year. That's every single recipe (524 recipes) in 365 days! Her story and blog get documented in the New York Times, and starts receiving the attention of journalists, and other media, including Julia Child herself (however hers wasn't necessarily positive). Her blog the Julie/Julia Project is still up and running.

Integrated it also follows the early culinary career of Julia Child. When she lived in Paris with her husband. It shows her struggles to be accepted in the culinary world, and her struggles to get a cookbook published.

The story shows similar challenges encountered by both women.

This movie is a really cute story and I loved seeing the challenges between both women it is actually really inspiring.

I actually surprisingly really liked this movie. I know this is a fairly old movie, but wanted to write a review on it anyway. I wasn't a Shia LaBeouf fan until I saw this movie (and I'm still not a HUGE fan but I'm more of a fan of his since this movie and Transformers)

Anyway the main part of the movie is about Shia LaBeouf character Kale who is having a hard time since the tragic death of his father, eventually snaps one day after a teacher makes a comment about his father. Kale is then placed under house arrest and at first is loving it because he can just stay home and play on his Xbox, and be on his computer all day to keep himself entertained....when his mom cancels all his subscriptions to his entertainment to have him be more productive during the day, he then spends day after day trying to cure his case of boredom by spying on the neighbors nothing too exciting really as he doesn't live in a "interesting" part of town. While he is spying one day he sets his eyes on his beautiful teenage girl next-door-neighbor Ashley....

When she catches him spying on her, she is actually more intrigued by his new hobby then creeped out. So Kale, Ashley and Kale's best friend Ronnie continue to cure their boredom and end up spying on another one of their neighbors Robert Turner. But things take an interesting turn when they learn that Robert might be a serial killer....Now how are they going to be able find out if he is a serial killer or not when Kale can't even leave his yard?

OK I know that people who have seen this movie before might have thought it was sort of cheesy...and I agree some parts were kind of cheesy, but I actually really liked it and I thought the cast did an excellent job playing their characters. The movie even though it is FAIRLY predictable it definitely was suspenseful and it one of those movies that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

What do you think?

The Blind Side

I just recently watched the movie "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, and Kathy Bates. This is based on a true story about a homeless black boy Michael Oher who was adopted by a white family the Tuohy's. Even though Michael aka "Big Mike" has a ton stacked against him (such as being homeless, a GPA of 0.6 (yes 0.6), and a hard childhood) with the love of the Tuohy family who loved him as one of their own (and eventually adopted him) manages to get his GPA up enough to earn a Football scholarship and eventually got drafted for the NFL by the Baltimore Ravens. I loved it and I think it's was an well deserved Oscar for Sandra Bullock.
