Freshman Father

I saw this movie last weekend. It was such a cute movie. It's a story about a high school sweethearts John & Kathy as the Senior proms King & Queen. John gets a scholarship to Harvard University and Kathy has a scholarship to the University of Iowa. But things change when Kathy gets pregnant. Seeing as they have no other option they end up getting married and go to Harvard where they get into student housing and Kathy gets a job as a bank teller and John works part time at the book store. Things seem to go well for them, Kathy delivers a handsome little boy named Adam.

However things start to get rough for them as Kathy struggles to find a connection with her son, where as John finds a connection with Adam right away. John is also struggling in calculus and the Dean of Students suggests that he drop the class next semester. Kathy and Adam decide to take a quick trip back home to Boise where it's implied that she still has a hard time connecting with her baby, and comes to realize that she's not ready to be a mother especially when realized that John ended up sleeping with their sons favorite blanket, whereas she couldn't even remember to pack it.

Kathy tells John that she's not ready to be a mom and that she's going back home to Boise and leaving Adam with John. John tries with no success to convince her to stay. Because he is no longer considered married he ends up loosing his student housing....he finds a nice women who has a apartment to rent and she ends up being his help when she needs him. One of the climaxes of the movie is when Adam is ill and John's "roommate" is out of town, and he has take Adam out in the rain to buy him medicine. While at the store the Dean of Students who didn't have a whole lot of faith in him after he became a singles dad sees him at the store and realizes how much love he has for his son. Shortly after that he is seen in her office where it is implied that he was considering dropping out, but she tells him that they are going to help him out.

I know this review isn't the BEST one I've ever done. But this is a heartfelt movie and I love how it's based on a true story.

Julie & Julia

I was at my sisters house the other day and she has premium cable channels so I decided to order "Julie & Julia" on Demand. I really thought this was a really cute movie..However I had to rewind it a couple of times due to some distractions while watching it!! But I thought this movie was really cute.

This movie integrates two true life stories of Critically acclaimed t.v chef Julia Child and aspiring writer Julie Powell.

Julie Powell is an aspiring writer that has submitted a story to a publisher but it wasn't bought, she is also stuck in a depressing job at a call center where families of the victims of the September 11 attacks call to share their feeling or people call to complain about the controversial plans to rebuild the World Trade Center call and complain. She however finds comfort in cooking and decides to start a blog about cooking her way through Julia Child's cook book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in a year. That's every single recipe (524 recipes) in 365 days! Her story and blog get documented in the New York Times, and starts receiving the attention of journalists, and other media, including Julia Child herself (however hers wasn't necessarily positive). Her blog the Julie/Julia Project is still up and running.

Integrated it also follows the early culinary career of Julia Child. When she lived in Paris with her husband. It shows her struggles to be accepted in the culinary world, and her struggles to get a cookbook published.

The story shows similar challenges encountered by both women.

This movie is a really cute story and I loved seeing the challenges between both women it is actually really inspiring.

Front of the Class

This is another True life story (yes I'm a true life story fanatic I just can't get enough). I know I have written a review on this movie on my personal blog before, but I can't help it I truly love this movie.

Brad Cohen is such an inspiration to me. He truly wanted to make a difference. He wanted to become someone who he didn't have growing up. His story begins with him when he was little boy he began making these strange random "barking "noises and involuntary "tics" or sudden movements. Everyone thought he was doing them just to get attention (even his own father) and when he finally got diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome (click here to learn more about Tourette Syndrome) and him and his mother tried their best to explain his condition things weren't any better for him. At school not only did he get bullied by his classmates but even by some of his teachers as well. One teacher made him stand up in front of the class and apologize to the class for purposely making noises and being disruptive. However this sparked a idea in him that he WANTED TO BE THE TEACHER HE NEVER HAD! So he went to college recieved a teaching degree did well in his student teaching, met a nice woman ...yep things looked like they were looking up for Brad..however life was about to throw him a curveball when he tried to apply for teaching positions....no school wanted to take a chance on him......THAT WAS UNTIL THE ONE SCHOOL DID!!

Brad's story is again a story of inspiration and it taught me that no matter how out of reach it may seem you have the power to make your dreams come true.

The Blind Side

I just recently watched the movie "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, and Kathy Bates. This is based on a true story about a homeless black boy Michael Oher who was adopted by a white family the Tuohy's. Even though Michael aka "Big Mike" has a ton stacked against him (such as being homeless, a GPA of 0.6 (yes 0.6), and a hard childhood) with the love of the Tuohy family who loved him as one of their own (and eventually adopted him) manages to get his GPA up enough to earn a Football scholarship and eventually got drafted for the NFL by the Baltimore Ravens. I loved it and I think it's was an well deserved Oscar for Sandra Bullock.
